What a great day to visit Lois White in Smithfield at Hummingbird Haven. Lois gives an in depth description of the birds and how they come to be at her home. She has been providing food and shelter for hummingbirds for over 29 years. 10 years ago, she opened the grounds of her home and now people stop to gaze at the graceful birds attracted by over 40 feeders. We'll make a lunch stop (on your own) at Bernadotte Cafe and then we're off to Emiquon Nat'l Wildlife Refuge - one of the largest flood plain restoration projects in the country, outside of the Florida Everglades. Following Emiquon, we'll make a stop at Dickson Mounds for a restroom break and then we're off to Heartland Bulk Foods in Cuba for a little (Amish) shopping before heading for home.
